WELDING PROCEDURES

Welding procedures, sometimes known as WPSs are required for most industrial welding applications. Some codes allow you to create welding procedures using pre-qualified parameters… and some codes don’t! If you need some help creating code compliant weld procedures give us a call!

PROCEDURE QUALIFICATION RECORDS (PQR)

PQRs document the validation of weld procedures. They typically require a lot of documentation and involve working with outside vendors for destructive and nondestructive testing. Let us help you get the PQR done right the first time! We can help you avoid the pitfalls of improper or incomplete documentation which will slow the process down.

WELDER PERFORMANCE QUALIFICATION RECORDS (WPQRS)

Once welding procedures have been established, welders need to prove that they are able to adequately perform with those procedures. Some codes allow welders to be qualified to multiple weld procedures with one WPQR. This can be a huge benefit and cost savings. WELDER TRAINING

Some codes require welders to not only have their performance tested, but they must be trained too. Ideally, all welders should undergo some form of training as it typically increases first time quality. An example of very effective training requirements is in S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248.
